There is a vast and often bewildering array of synthetic methods and reagents available to organic chemists today. The Best Synthetic Methods series allows the practising synthetic chemist to choose between all the alternatives and assess their real advantages and limitations.
Each chapter in this book details a particular theme associated with carbohydrate synthesis. A brief review of the subject area is provided, but the emphasis in all cases is on describing efficient practical methods to effect the transformations described.
In order for the roles of carbohydrates to be thoroughly analysed and assessed, glycobiologists require access to defined target carbohydrates in useful quantities. Thus carbohydrates and glycoconjugates are now recognized as important targets for total synthesis programmes and it is essential to develop efficient regio- and stereoselective methods for the synthesis of carbohydrates. Whilst carbohydrates can sometimes be isolated from natural sources, synthetic strategies often offer the advantage of allowing access to larger quantities of material as well as entry to analogues of the natural carbohydrates.
* The latest volume in the long standing Best Synthetic Methods series
* Clear chapter by chapter breakdown of carbohydrate synthesis themes with examples of good practical methods for common carbohydrate syntheses.

Embedded System Design: Modeling, Synthesis and Verification

Daniel D. Gajski, Samar Abdi, Andreas Gerstlauer, Gunar Schirner, "Embedded System Design: Modeling, Synthesis and Verification"
Springer | 2009-08-31 | ISBN: 1441905030 | 352 pages | PDF | 3,1 MB

Embedded System Design: Modeling, Synthesis and Verification introduces a model-based approach to system level design. It presents modeling techniques for both computation and communication at different levels of abstraction, such as specification, transaction level and cycle-accurate level. It discusses synthesis methods for system level architectures, embedded software and hardware components. Using these methods, designers can develop applications with high level models, which are automatically translatable to low level implementations. This book, furthermore, describes simulation-based and formal verification methods that are essential for achieving design confidence. The book concludes with an overview of existing tools along with a design case study outlining the practice of embedded system design. Specifically, this book addresses the following topics in detail:

. System modeling at different abstraction levels

. Model-based system design

. Hardware/Software codesign

. Software and Hardware component synthesis

. System verification

This book is for groups within the embedded system community: students in courses on embedded systems, embedded application developers, system designers and managers, CAD tool developers, design automation, and system engineering.

Demystifying the Ipsec Puzzle

Sheila Frankel, "Demystifying the Ipsec Puzzle"
Artech House Publishers | 2001 | ISBN: 1580530796 | PDF | 273 pages | 1,1 MB

Now that the Internet has blossomed into the "Information Superhighway," with its traffic (and drivers) becoming increasingly diverse, security has emerged as a primary concern. This innovative new book offers you a global, integrated approach to providing Internet Security at the network layer. You get a detailed presentation of the revolutionary IPsec technology used today to create Virtual Private Networks and, in the near future, to protect the infrastructure of the Internet itself.

The book addresses IPsec’s major aspects and components to help you evaluate and compare features of different implementations. It gives you a detailed understanding of this cutting-edge technology from the inside, which enables you to more effectively troubleshoot problems with specific products. Based on standards documents, discussion list archives, and practitioners’ lore, this one-of-a-kind resource collects all the current knowledge of IPsec and describes it in a literate, clear manner.

Advances in Chemical Engineering, Volume 35: Engineering Aspects of Self-Organising Materials

Rudy Koopmans, "Advances in Chemical Engineering, Volume 35: Engineering Aspects of Self-Organising Materials"
Academic Press | 2009 | ISBN: 012374752X | 256 pages | PDF | 6,3 MB

The cross-fertilization of physico-chemical and mathematical ideas has a long historical tradition. This volume of Advances in Chemical Engineering is almost completely dedicated to a conference on "Mathematics in Chemical Kinetics and Engineering" (MaCKiE-2007), which was held in Houston in February 2007, bringing together about 40 mathematicians, chemists, and chemical engineers from 10 countries to discuss the application and development of mathematical tools in their respective fields.

* Updates and informs the reader on the latest research findings using original reviews
* Written by leading industry experts and scholars
* Reviews and analyzes developments in the field

C++ Design Patterns and Derivatives Pricing

Mark S. Joshi, "C++ Design Patterns and Derivatives Pricing"
Cambridge University Press | 2004-09-06 | ISBN: 0521832357 | 214 pages | PDF | 1,5 MB

Combining mathematical finance with C++ and object-oriented programming (00P), M. Joshi demonstrates the relevance and use of OOP in financial mathematics by describing how to use price derivatives to obtain reusable and extensible code. A large part of the book is devoted to designing reusable components which are then combined to build a Monte Carlo pricer for exotic equity derivatives. Readers knowing the basics of C++ and mathematical finance, but are unclear how to use OOP to implement models, will welcome this analysis.
